Who I Am
meet the artist
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Karen, and I am located in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
I started creating wood art in 2021, pretty much by accident! We had a big blank space that needed some attention. I created my first ever art piece using left over 6 foot long tongue and groove pine. I discovered that creating art made me feel calm and focused. I get lost in the process – I’m all in and lose track of time.
If you have ever had the chance to stop by my ‘shop’ or you’ve met me at a local market you will have witnessed the enthusiasm I have for the art I am creating. I can likely tell you the story behind each piece of wood that I use. I’m excited to continue this creative journey with you!
What I Do
see my work
I am a nostalgic person at heart – many of my pieces are created from elements of my past, like my Prairie Castle Collection. I’ve also incorporated laser cut airplanes into my mountainscapes, a nod to the work my husband and his colleagues do as aircraft engineers and pilots.
I do not limit myself to one form of artwork. I create traditional mountainscapes and mosaics, but also use bold colours and driftwood elements to create night sky and coastal pieces. I’ve also dabbled in pyrography (wood burning), and the addition of a laser to my tool arsenal has opened up a variety of laser cut and engraved pieces. I invite you to look through the pieces I have created, as well as give my blog a follow. I’ll be posting regularly about what I’m working on.
