Prairie Castle Collection
I grew up in rural Alberta, the daughter of grain farmers. For me, grain elevators were a symbol of community. Farmers gathered here, not just to deliver grain, but often to catch up with each other over a quick coffee. When I moved away, the elevator became my beacon. When it came into view I knew I didn’t have far to go until I was home. It was a sad day when they were demolished, a piece of history gone.
I have been fortunate to obtain several boards of reclaimed wood that are very similar to the colours of the Alberta Wheat Pool grain elevators. This wood has inspired me to create a Prairie Castle Collection, a way to capture the history for many who live on the prairies or grew up there and moved away. Featuring bold skies, the illusion of rolling hills, and tall elevators, these smaller pieces of wood wall art will capture your heart and imagination.
This series will launch on March 1, 2025.
