Coastal and Night Sky Inspired Art
When I first started creating the night sky pieces, a customer reached out to me and asked if I ever did any pieces that were coastal inspired. I told her no…not yet…and then proceeded to lay awake in bed most of the night thinking about all the possible ways I could create these! My first coastal pieces were created using spray paints, and I definitely was able to achieve some amazing colours for the sky and water. Unfortunately, using spray paints was very hard on my lungs (even with using a respirator), and they were finicky and would splatter, resulting in me having to start over.
My newer coastal and night sky pieces feature hand painted skies in a variety of colours, including the auroras. Accents used in these pieces include ironwood, driftwood, and slices of 100 year old cedar to mimic land. The trees in the pieces are laser cut and typically spray painted a metallic bronze. Colours for these pieces can be customized, and will be discussed in advance to ensure satisfaction.
